This session was jam-packed full of newness for me.
Firstly, I had never met Andrea and Chris before. And they weren’t one of my typical wedding couples; ready for their engagement photos. They had been to together for 3 years and Andrea thought it would be nice to surprise Chris with a photo session; they had never had their photos done professionally before. Secondly, I had never shot in Uptown Waterloo before, making it my first photography outing and forcing to me “fly by the seat of my pants” (which I kind of like 😉 ).
Fresh faces, fresh locations. But the one thing I ALWAYS try to express is the CONNECTION and did they ever do that wonderfully.
Andrea and Chris were SO easy to work with and I think it shows in the photos. Their happiness and comfort and affection shine through every photo. There is an ease to these photos like they were letting me see into their relationship, if only for an hour. The truth is, the location, lighting, outfits, etc. didn’t matter in this session because they let themselves and their relationship show through it all.
It was a pleasure photographing this lovely couple and I hope I will get to do it again in the future. And who knows? Maybe next time they will be one of my wedding couples…
Summer. I can feel it!
I hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend! My family and I made the most of the beautiful weather and the kids actually got to play in the sprinkler!
If you would like to book a session for this summer, please contact me as soon as possible as things fill up very quickly once the beautiful weather gives all a gentle reminder of our fondness for family fun and the outdoors!
I’ll leave you with a shot of my kids from this gorgeous holiday weekend. This picture is how I want my kids to remember their childhood.
I’m SO excited to share this engagement session because it happens to be two people who are very special to me: my brother-in-law and his fiancé! We had so much fun together the day of the session, the light was lovely and thanks to a lifetime of history (okay, half a lifetime) there were no awkward moments or miscommunications. This is completely and genuinely THEM. I can’t wait for the big day Kourt & Jer- love you guys! A special thanks to Old Goat Books http://www.oldgoatbooks.com/Welcome_to_Old_Goat_Books.html for letting us photograph in there!
A new tradition started today; we visited the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival on it’s 50th anniversary. The weather was not at it’s best but we were all in good spirits and had a great time. Here is just a snippet of our time eating pancakes, visiting the sugar shack, sampling food trucks (my favourite was Chef Scotty Cooks https://twitter.com/chefscottycooks) and walking all over town!
If you get a chance to go next year I would highly recommend it- especially in good company 😉
